This Eclipse Cross is the ES with S-AWC, Black over black cloth. The kilometres are higher than average for a 2022, so it has clearly been somebody's commuter. Certified and safety inspected. If you want a compact crossover with real all-wheel drive for getting in and out of Kanata, Stittsville, Nepean and downtown Ottawa every day, without paying for leather and a sunroof you do not need, this is the one for you.

The Eclipse Cross runs a 1.5L turbocharged four, rated at 152 horsepower, through a CVT automatic. Mitsubishi S-AWC Super All-Wheel Control is the part that matters in an Ottawa winter, with Normal, Snow and Gravel modes. It is not fast, and the CVT does not pretend otherwise, but it pulls fine once the turbo is awake.

The Eclipse Cross ES covers the basics people actually use. An 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM and steering wheel audio controls, heated front seats, heated power mirrors, automatic climate control, cruise control, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers and 18-inch alloy wheels. On the safety side it has forward collision mitigation, a rear view camera, a driver knee airbag and a 60/40 split folding rear seat for when the cargo area runs out.
