2020 Kia Sorento LX, all-wheel drive, Black, 2.4L four-cylinder, 6-speed automatic, 5 passengers, kilometres about average for the year.

The 2020 Kia Sorento LX AWD is the midsize SUV for a family that wants room and all-wheel drive without paying for a lot of extras they will never use. It came to us as a local trade-in, and it is certified and safety inspected, same as everything on the lot.

The 2.4L GDI four-cylinder and six-speed automatic are the simple, proven setup, and the all-wheel drive is what you want for a February morning in Kanata. It is not a fast SUV and does not pretend to be. Kia rates it at 10.2 L/100 km combined, and it will tow up to 907 kg for a small trailer.

Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel come standard on the Canadian LX, which matters more in Ottawa than almost anything else on the list. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, a backup camera, push-button start, keyless entry, cruise control and alloy wheels round it out, with a big cargo area behind split-folding rear seats.
