Year: 2021. Make: Dodge. Model: Durango. Trim: R/T. Drivetrain: All Wheel Drive. Engine: 5.7L HEMI VVT V8. Transmission: 8-speed automatic. Exterior: Granite Crystal Metallic. Interior: Black. Certified.

This 2021 Durango R/T is Granite Crystal Metallic over black, with kilometres about average for its age. It is the three-row SUV for people who were told they had to buy a minivan and said no. It suits a family in Ottawa, Kanata, Stittsville or Nepean that needs seven seats, wants all-wheel drive for the winter, and would still like to hear a V8 when they leave the driveway.

The Durango R/T runs the 5.7L HEMI VVT V8 with FuelSaver cylinder deactivation, 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, through the 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic and all-wheel drive. It has heavy-duty engine cooling, a block heater, trailer sway control and an auto-levelling rear suspension. It is thirsty, and we are not going to pretend otherwise, but that is the price of admission for a V8.

The Durango R/T cabin has heated front and second-row seats, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, power front seats with driver memory and power lumbar, and seating for seven with a split-folding third row. The 2021 refresh brought the Uconnect 5 system on the 10.1-inch touchscreen with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Alpine premium audio, SiriusXM, Bluetooth and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Proximity key with push-button start, remote start, a power liftgate, tri-zone climate with rear air, an auto-dimming mirror, automatic high beams, rain-sensing wipers, fog lamps, the backup camera and ParkSense front and rear park assist round it out. This one was also ordered with the power sunroof, and it has a wireless charging pad, leather-faced seats with perforated suede inserts, hill start assist, Ready Alert Braking, Rain Brake Support and a full-size spare. The window sticker came to just over $65,000.
