The Tundra Platinum is the luxury end of Toyota's full-size truck lineup, CrewMax cab with the 5.5-foot box and four-wheel drive. Kilometres are about average for a 2024, so it has done a bit of work but is a long way from tired. It suits someone in Ottawa, Kanata, Stittsville or Nepean who tows a boat or a trailer on weekends and spends the rest of the week commuting, and wants a back seat that adults actually enjoy.

The Tundra runs the 3.4L i-FORCE twin-turbo V6, 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, through a 10-speed automatic to four-wheel drive. People still ask where the V8 went. Drive this one with a trailer behind it and that question usually answers itself.

The Tundra Platinum cabin is properly equipped: leather seating, heated and ventilated seats front and rear, a heated steering wheel, driver memory, the panoramic moonroof and a head-up display. The 14-inch touchscreen runs navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and feeds a 12-speaker JBL system with SiriusXM, and there is a wireless charging pad. Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 brings pre-collision braking, dynamic radar cruise, lane departure alert with steering assist and automatic high beams, and you also get blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and the Panoramic View Monitor camera system. Push-button start with smart key, remote start, 20-inch alloys and the power tailgate round it out.
