This Elantra Hybrid is the Luxury trim, Black over black leather. The kilometres are well above average for a 2023, which tells you this one has been commuting hard, and that is exactly the job a hybrid like this was built for. Certified and safety inspected. If you put a lot of highway time in between Kanata, Stittsville, Nepean and downtown Ottawa and you are tired of what that costs at the pump, this is the car for you.

The Elantra Hybrid pairs a 1.6L Smartstream four-cylinder with an electric motor for 139 combined horsepower, through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic to the front wheels. Hyundai rates it at 4.7 L/100 km combined. The dual-clutch is a nice touch, it shifts like a proper transmission instead of droning the way a lot of hybrids do. Quick it is not, but it is never short of breath either.

The Elantra Luxury trim is well equipped. Twin 10.25-inch screens, one for the touchscreen and one for the digital gauges, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM and an 8-speaker Bose system. Leather seats, heated front seats, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power sunroof, a wireless charging pad, proximity key with push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control and 17-inch alloy wheels. On the safety side you get forward collision avoidance with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keeping assist, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, smart cruise control with stop and go, driver attention warning, automatic high beams and a rearview camera.
